GARDEN SESSIONS CONCERTS IN BOTANICAL GARDEN

 

The Garden Sessions concerts in the Jevremovac Botanical Garden, which attract a lot of attention from the audience and are considered one of the most attractive summer events in Belgrade, are being held for the fourth time this year.

The Belgrade Festivals Centre, which organizes concerts in the Botanical Garden, is preparing magnificent events that will take place in June in this summer musical oasis of the capital.

 All concerts start at 8.30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online at tickets.rs and at Ticket Vision outlets (including Ušće Shopping Center and Cvetni trg).

At a slightly higher price, tickets will be sold on the night of the concerts as well, to which the audience will enter the Botanical Garden from Takovska Street.

26 June, Concert of SANANDA MAITREYA

Born in New York and raised in America, Sananda Maitreya is an artist, composer, arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist, entrepreneur and post-millennium rocker. He plays the basic instruments of rock: drums, bass, guitar and keyboards, as well as several other instruments. Since the beginning of his professional career, he has written, arranged and produced all of his music, and collaborated with other top artists and producers.

  

He began his fruitful career in 1987, when his debut album Introducing the Hardline brought him international success. In 1988, he won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, while in June 1988 he appeared on the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine and was nominated in the Top International Newcomer category at the British Awards.   

In the following years, he released three studio albums: Neither Fish nor Flesh in 1989, Symphony or Damn in 1993 and Vibrator in 1995.

These albums feature many popular songs, including soundtracks from various legendary Hollywood films, such as Beverly Hills Cop III, Ready to Wear (Prêt-à-Porter), The Promised Land (Bastarden), The Fan, Shake, Rattle & Roll, Frankie and Johnny

Sananda Maitreya (with the stage name Terence Trent D'arby at the beginning of his career) is known to the Serbian audience for famous hits such as: ‘Sign Your Name’, ‘Rain’, ‘Wishing Well’, ‘Delicate’, ‘Holding on to You’, ‘Dance Little Sister’, ‘If You Let Me Stay’, among others.  

At the age of 33, he took the name Sananda Maitreya, which represents a new starting point for the artist, and in 2001 it became his legal name. His fifth album, WildCard!, marked his new life as an independent artist.

Several albums followed, and on most of his albums, Maitreya plays all the instruments. The latest double album Pandora's PlayHouse was released on 15 March 2021.

The Dolby Atmos remastered digital edition of his cult album Introducing the Hardline was released on 8 July 2022.

In 2023, Maitreya released the documentary film and live album Welcome to the MadHouse: The Costa Rica Sessions, which won Best Documentary Music Score at the 2023 Kiez Berlin Film Festival and Best Feature Documentary at the International Gold Awards 2023.

He presents his music as post-millennium rock, and its main elements are heart and soul, its nature is passion, courage and curiosity. Maitreya's vision of post-millennium rock is music free of restrictions and marketing pressures. This music has no rules, its only goal is to lead the listener back to their heart, to provoke their mind and make them re-approach their true feelings. His music combines all genres that the artist loved since childhood: opera, country, classical, jazz, blues, gospel, pop, reggae, as well as rock.

Maitreya releases his thirteenth studio album The Pegasus Project: Pegasus & The Swan in the spring of 2024.
