On September 25 and 26 Tašmajdan Park was turned into a real time machine into a childhood. The fourth Great Children's Carnival was successfully held, which reminded all mums and dads of the magic of childhood, and gave the youngest an unforgettable weekend.
In cooperation with the Belgrade Festivals Centre (CEBEF) and the City Municipality of Palilula, and organized by the Culture Shock association, programmes were organized for the whole family, which lasted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and admission was free for all visitors.
The carnival was marked by outstandingly creative programmes that took place on the central Festival stage, and the children mostly enjoyed theatrical performances, performances by acrobats, magicians and clowns, but also attractive performances by Latin percussionists and majorettes. The mascots of favorite cartoon characters contributed to the creation of a real carnival atmosphere, and the youngest visitors enjoyed as many as eight creative workshops on the topic of acting, poetry, painting, sports, singing, as well as everyone's favorite face painting throughout the weekend.
Additionally, the programme promoted young talents whose performances were included in the programme of the event, therefore visitors had the opportunity to enjoy recitals and musical performances by the primary school students, who thus presented their talent, success they have achieved so far and their school.
The ‘Fun City’ Festival zone aroused the greatest interest among preschool children, while primary school students spent most of their time in the zone with horses, where they could hang out with these noble animals throughout the weekend and learn a lot about the benefits of equestrian sports. There were other animals at the Carnival as well. Doggies and kitties were adopted at the Carnival, and some of the children went home with their new best friend.
As the event primarily aims to promote family values and develop a sense of social responsibility and solidarity among children, a humanitarian action was successfully realized, which had its epilogue at the Carnival itself.
The art competition was successfully conducted in cooperation with primary schools from the municipality of Palilula, and this socially responsible action included children of all lower grades who painted works on the theme: ‘My Happy Moment’. The most creative works were exhibited at the Carnival itself, where visitors had the opportunity to become owners of a small work of art, and thus donate the entire action, by making a donation in accordance with their abilities.
The work that was declared the best belongs to the ‘Kraljica Marija’ Primary School, and the artist is little Mia Mital from the IV/3 class. The total funds raised from donations will be intended for one of the socially endangered friends from this class, which was the original idea of the Festival organizers.
