At the concert, held on 17 October 2025, the international ensemble Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra literally brought the lively audience to their feet in the packed great hall of the Sava Centre from the very first notes. The concert, called ‘Balkan Reunion’, featured exceptional musicians, led by double bassist from Belgrade, Ivan Kovačević: Margherita Abita (vocals, Italy), Julien Chanal (guitar, France), Albert Enkaminanko (percussion, Spain), Pere Nolasc Turu (violin, Spain), Fernando Salinas Olcoz (accordion, Spain), Xavi Pendón (clarinet, Spain).
The superb performance of this outstanding band was perfectly complemented by special guests invited to Belgrade just for this occasion: world-famous violinist Roby Lakatos, top vocalist Danica Krstić, and renowned cymbalist Ľubomír Gašpar. The audience at the Sava Centre enjoyed the exciting performance, along with two encores, and after the concert, a social gathering and photo session was organized in the hall's lobby. The concert was organized by the Belgrade Festivals Centre (CEBEF).
The audience had the opportunity to enjoy hit songs, including: ‘Tisom tiše’, ‘Mome, odi za voda’, ‘Cu ti lu dissi’, ‘Zaspo Janko’, ‘Aj mene majka’, ‘Vranjaka’, ‘Niška banja’, ‘Ederlezi’, and ‘Od Ebra do Dunava’. At the end of the concert, to the delight of the audience, the orchestra performed ‘Makedonsko devojče’, ‘Konfetki/Nane tsokha’, as well as ‘Još ne sviće rujna zora’ with all the guests.
The Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra has a world-wide audience and performs songs in many languages, including Spanish, Serbian, Russian, Romani, and Italian. The band is based in Barcelona. The music tradition from the Balkan countries is the main motif of the compositions of this group from the Catalan capital.
