Manu Chao is a Franco-Spanish musician who sings in French, Spanish, English, Italian, Arabic, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese, Greek, and occasionally other languages. He started his musical career in Paris, playing with bands such as ‘Hot Pants’ and ‘Los Carayos’, which combined different languages and musical styles. With friends and his brother Antoine Chao, he founded the band Mano Negra in 1987, which achieved significant success, especially in Europe. Manu became a solo artist in 1995 and has been touring regularly with his band Radio Bemba ever since. The band's goal was to evoke the sound of street music and bar scenes from different cultures – they spent several years traveling around South and Central America recording new music, on the basis of which the album ‘Clandestino’ was born in 1998, which was sold in over five million copies. The songs ‘Bongo Bong’ and ‘Clandestino’ stood out in particular. The albums ‘Próxima Estación: Esperanza’ (2001), ‘Radio Bemba Sound System’ (2002), ‘Sibérie m'était contéee’ (2004), ‘La Radiolina’ (2007), ‘Baionarena’ (2008) followed, as well as recently released new songs, among which the latest is ‘Me Provoca Te Ver’.
Manu Chao has performed several times in Serbia at different locations, to the delight of the local audience, and this time he will perform for the first time in the Botanical Garden in Belgrade. The concert will be held with limited capacity.
