16 December 2022 at 11.00 a.m., Stratište Memorial Complex at Jabuka, Pančevo

 

After the realization of the programme celebrating the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia – Sretenje (Candlemas) on 15 February this year, the Belgrade Festivals Centre (CEBEF) got the opportunity to create an artistic programme to mark the Remembrance Day of Roma victims in the Second World War.  

 

Organized by the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy of the Republic of Serbia – department of the Committee for Nurturing the Traditions of the Liberation Wars of Serbia, a commemoration was held at Stratište memorial site near Jabuka in Pančevo on 16 December 2022.  

 

The commemoration of this important date was attended by members of the National Assembly, representatives of the Government, the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, the City of Belgrade and the City of Pančevo, representatives of the Roma and Jewish communities, a large number of representatives of the diplomatic corps and others. A flower at the monument to the suffering of Roma people in the Second World War was also laid by Acting Director of CEBEF Damir Handanović.  

 

Young actors Lazar Micić and Nikola Micović, vocal soloist Aleksa Nedeljković and the Angelos quartet, as well as the Rosher artistic ensemble took part in the artistic programme written by Vojislav Milin and directed by Zoran Rakić, while the host of the programme was Katarina Petrović, journalist and host of the Radio Television of Serbia.
