On Saturday, 3 September 2022, a unique concert spectacle ‘Musical Vision of the Balkans' was held in Ušće in front of more than 20,000 people, which within EXIT's platform WOMBA (World Music Balkans) promotes the traditional music of the region in the modern production of recognized regional and world performers.
Over 10,000 people had already gathered at Usće around 8 p.m., waiting for the performance of the cantata ‘Carmina burana’, which was postponed twice due to bad weather. On the imposing stage, one of the most famous classical works in history was performed by more than 300 musicians of the choir and orchestra of the Serbian National Theatre and the ‘Stanislav Binički’ Art Ensemble, conducted by maestro Aleksandar Kojić, while the soloists were soprano Marija Jelić, tenor Stevan Karanac and baritone Vasa Stajkić.
Karl Orff's work, performed by the Serbian National Theatre, was realized in co-production with the Belgrade Festivals Centre (CEBEF) as part of the ‘Classical Sessions’ programme selection.
After ‘Carmina burana’, Marko Louis, Vlatko Stefanovski Trio, the band of the great Esma Redžepova, under the leadership of her son Simeon Atanasov, as well as the world-renowned electronic music producer Satori, known to our audience from his performances on the main stages of the EXIT festival, performed at this one of a kind one-day festival.
Numerous public figures were also spotted in the audience, such as Jelena Đoković, Serbian actors Dragana Mićalović and Bojan Perić, as well as North Macedonia's Prime Minister Dimitar Kovačevski.
