LP Duo Performs The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett for Two Pianos in Belgrade – Premiere Performance on the Occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Work’s Creation

In honor of the 50th anniversary of one of the most important musical works of the 20th century, LP Duo will premiere The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett arranged for two pianos. To date, this is the best-selling album in the history of jazz music and piano solo improvisation. This exceptional event, which will be held at the theatre Atelje 212 on 17 December, represents a rare opportunity for the Belgrade audience to get acquainted with the monumental work of the legendary jazz and classical composer in a new interpretation by LP Duo, pianists and composers Sonja Lončar and Andrija Pavlović. 

The Köln Concert (1975) is one of Keith Jarrett's most recognizable works, redefining the boundaries of improvisation and piano music. Originally performed and recorded at the Cologne Opera, it has become a symbol of artistic freedom and virtuosity, fusing elements of classical music and jazz in a unique, emotionally intense form.

Keith Jarrett is an American pianist and composer, born in 1945. He is considered one of the most influential and creative artists of contemporary jazz and classical music. His career spans both solo and group projects, and he is known for his brilliant improvisations and ability to blend different musical genres. The Köln Concert remains his most famous and beloved work, winning over audiences and critics worldwide.

LP Duo, composed of pianists, composers, and innovators, Sonja Lončar and Andrija Pavlović (a.k.a. Andy Pavlov), have been experimenting with the endless possibilities of playing on two pianos for more than twenty years, creating authentic musical art. They have performed at the most important festivals and venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Ars Electronica in Linz, and Sónar in Barcelona.  

They are known for their virtuoso performance approach and innovative arrangements, combining classical and contemporary musical styles, and particularly their premiere performances and reinterpretations of major musical works, providing the audience with unique experiences and a new dimension of sound.

Sonja Lončar is an associate professor at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, while Andrija Pavlović is an associate professor at the Department of Scenic Design at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.
