Cello Fest, a festival dedicated to the art of playing the cello, is taking place in Belgrade for the twelfth time. After several years’ hiatus, this prestigious event is resumed thanks to the incredible energy of individuals that support this project.
Last year's edition of the Festival called ‘Awakening’ once again brought exceptional foreign guest cellists to the Belgrade stages, and, as always, they were accompanied by numerous Serbian cellists, both young and more experienced ones.
This year, from 19 to 25 September, we will have the opportunity to hear the Colombian cello master and laureate of the world's largest competitions Santiago Cañón-Valencia, the Serbian cellist Petar Pejčić, who is the laureate and youngest finalist of the last edition of the Queen Elizabeth Competition, as well as an ensemble of the best Serbian cellists. Traditionally, several master classes and presentations will be held.
Cello Fest will be officially opened on 19 September at 8.30 p.m., organized by the Belgrade Festivals Centre (CEBEF), when the audience in the Belgrade Philharmonic Concert Hall will be treated to energetic cello music at a concert by the Viva Cello ensemble, led by Dragan Đorđević Suzuki.
In addition to Dragan Đorđević, the octet of the best Serbian cellists, who will perform a varied programme, consists of, Sandra Belić, Marko Miletić, Jan Kristof, Dejan Božić, Nevena Busarac, Danijela Milutinović Nenić and Aleksandar Latković.
The concert programme will include works by the following composers: Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla, Kaiser-Lindemann, Fauré, Shostakovich, Norman / Barth, Bacharach, Popper.
Tickets can be purchased online through the website tickets.rs, as well as at Ticket Vision outlets (Belgrade Youth Centre and Ušće Shopping Centre) for the concert that opens Cello Fest, while tickets for the concerts on 22 and 25 September can be purchased at the Belgrade Philharmonic box office.
