The world-famous hip-hop band and multiple Grammy award winner, Arrested Development, is performing again in Belgrade after eleven years, this time on the Summer Stage of the Bitefartkafe club at Kalemegdan. The revolutionaries of the world hip-hop scene will present themselves to the Belgrade audience on 1 September 2022 as part of the ‘Musicology Sessions’ concert series with the support of the Belgrade Festival Centre (CEBEF).
Tickets are available on the tickets.rs website, as well as at Ticket Vision outlets.
Arrested Development is often said to be a positively oriented hip-hop band. African rhythms, blues, funk, soul, rap and hip-hop are just some of the styles that the band is inspired by in creating their music. In the early nineties, the band's producer and frontman, Speech, together with Headliner, a well-known DJ, founded the band as a positive, ‘Afrocentric’ alternative to the American ‘gangsta’ rap. Arrested Development represents the revolutionaries of hip-hop culture who influenced many famous bands, such as Black Eyed Peas, Fugees and Outcast.
On the occasion of the concert that will be held on 1 September as part of the ‘Musicology Sessions’ concert series, Speech said: ‘Belgrade is a wonderful city. People are passionate and love hip hop! We cannot wait to perform again in front of the Belgrade audience!’
The album, ‘3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life of...’, released in 1992, earned them two Grammys: for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group (‘Tennessee’), an award from the famous television network MTV, the Rolling Stone magazine, as well as Soul Train Music and NAACP Image awards. Their numerous hits from the 90s era were often played in Belgrade clubs and on radio stations, among which are: ‘Mr. Wendal’, ‘People Everyday’, ‘Ease My Mind’ and many others.
The latest album, ‘For the FKN Love’, was released in 2021 by the prestigious record label Vagabond Productions and Configa. The band’s music evokes the simpler era of hip hop. They talk about current topics, promoting respect among artists and reminding us of the need to commit to the world with more understanding and kindness.
The concert starts at 10 p.m., and the door to the club will open at 8 p.m.
