The famous opera ‘Tosca’ by Giacomo Puccini will be performed this time in the jazz arrangement by Peter Reiter-Schaub. Famous jazz musicians Martin Auer – trumpet, Francesco Santucci – tenor saxophone and Adrian Mears – trombone will perform as soloists, and the sound of their instruments will represent the main opera roles – Tosca, Cavaradossi and Scarpia. The audience will also have the opportunity to see Peter Reiter-Schaub in the role of conductor.
Peter Reiter-Schaub is one of the most important German jazz musicians of today. In addition to being recognized as an excellent saxophonist, who has performed with many prominent musicians, he is also known as a composer and arranger of music for the Big Band.
Martin Auer studied trumpet, composition and arranging in Mannheim and Berlin. Since 2008 he has been teaching jazz trumpet at the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. He has collaborated with jazz ensembles in Germany and performed with leading musicians of this genre.
Francesco Santucci is one of the leading Italian jazz musicians. At the age of seventeen, he performed for the first time at the Jazz Festival in Rome, and he has gained rich performing experience, sharing the music scene with many famous jazz ensembles and soloists.
Adrian Mears was voted ‘Best Australian Trombonist’. He studied in New York and built his career in Europe. He is a member of the Ugetsu international sextet, with which he has recorded four CDs. He is also a composer and arranger.
The Big Band RTS is the only professional jazz ensemble in Serbia. Since its founding in 1954, the ensemble has collaborated with the most prominent domestic and foreign artists. For many years, it has been led by eminent conductors, composers and arrangers: Mladen Bobi Guteša, Vojislav Bubiša Simić, Zvonimir Skerl, Duško Gojković and Stjepko Gut.
The orchestra has received exceptional awards and accolades. It won the first prize at the Juan Les Pins Jazz Festival in 1960. After its first tour in 1957, the orchestra has performed at world famous festivals (Tel Aviv, Montreux, Marseille, Thessaloniki, Munich), at several UNICEF concerts (Belgrade, Paris, Geneva), and always with great success, receiving excellent reviews.
Over the years, the world's biggest names in jazz music have performed with the orchestra, including Clark Terry, Benny Golson, Johnny Griffin, Maynard Ferguson, Tony Scott, Jerome Richardson, Eddie Henderson, J. Hendrix, Roy Hargrove, Diane Schuur, Randy Brecker, Jon Faddis, Ilja Reijngoud, Gregory Hutchinson, Jesse Davis, Simon Rigter, Samuel Blaser and many others, as well as stars of world show business such as Ray Charles, Danny Kaye, Josephine Baker, Mireille Mathieu, Enrico Macias, Anni-Frid Lyngstad (ABBA) and others.
The Big Band has made numerous studio albums, as well as recordings for the Sound Archive of Radio Belgrade. Generations of top soloists who are recognized worldwide have been members of the Band – Mile Pavlović, Bora Roković, Duško Gojković, Lala Kovačev, Stjepko Gut.
