Born in Moscow in 2001, Alexander Malofeev gained international acclaim at the age of thirteen, winning the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. He has since gone on to establish a reputation as an internationally distinguished pianist, performing with such eminent conductors as Riccardo Chailly, Mikhail Pletnev, Myung-whun Chung, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Valery Gergiev, Alain Altinoglu, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Kazuki Yamada, Charles Dutoit, and Vasily Petrenko, as well as with the world’s leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra.
Malofeev has performed in famous concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. He has also performed at St Mark's Square in Venice and participated in renowned festivals including the Verbier Festival, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron. He has recently toured cities in China and the United States, which included performances with orchestras and a recital at Carnegie Hall in October 2024.
He was one of the participants in the discography project Tchaikovsky 2020, which marked the 180th anniversary of the famous composer's birth.
Malofeev graduated from the Gnessin State Musical College and the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. He is the winner of numerous awards at international competitions, solidifying his reputation as a leading young talent in the world of classical music.
